Chantelle
was 19 years old and Haley was 15 years old at the time of their tragic
death in July of 2009 when a terrible accident occurred just a couple
kilometers from there Leland road home that had taken the lives of these
young women. Dillon
had dated Chantelle for a period of time before the accident and
remained very good friends with her and the family.
In memory of the girls DKD Racing decided to sponsor a memorial
race in their honor, and it took place at Chapman’s Can Am Motorsports
Park in Lafargeville, New York. It
was the most amazing night many friends and family members of both
Chantelle and Haley attended the race. Dillon
had really hoped to win this event in honor of his fallen friends, and
when the race began, he wasn’t holding back at all.
It was a memory that will never leave the heart for Dillon and
many others, and when the checkered flag fell at the end of the race,
Dillon had accomplished his goal. It
meant so much to Dillon, their friends, and the Lake family to win the
race and amazing for the family and friends. |
